Doctors Flee As Gunmen Attack Hospital

A hospital was attacked on Tuesday in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, by gunmen, causing an official of the government and a doctor to flee the premises.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Marwa Amini, said, “Our special forces are in the area.”

A doctor, a pediatrician, who fled the hospital said that a loud explosion could be heard at the hospital entrance.

The doctor who chose to speak under the condition of anonymity said, “The hospital was full of patients and doctors; there was total panic inside."

The hospital is situated in western Kabul, home to Kabul's minority Shiite Hazara community, which is a repeated target of members of Islamic State (IS).

The invasion comes a day after four bombs planted by the roadside in a district in northern Kabul went off, wounding four civilians.
