The Tigrayan rebels have claimed that dozens of people were killed in a drone strike on a camp in northern Ethiopia on Saturday.
The spokesman for the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), Getachew Reda, said on Twitter that an attack on the camp in northwestern Tigray claimed the lives of 56 innocent civilians.
According to the Guardian, there was no immediate comment from the Ethiopian government, however, a senior official at a hospital in Tigray said the hospital had reported 55 people dead and 126 injured.
The United Nations reported this week that three refugees including two children had been killed in an air strike on the Mai Aini refugee camp in Tigray on Wednesday.
The UN called Tigray a de-facto blockade that is preventing desperately needed supplies from reaching millions of people.
Tigray has restricted access and the region remains under a communications blackout, making it difficult to verify battlefield claims.
