DR Congo Battling Water Shortages

DR Congo Battling Water Shortages

The residents of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the town of Goma has been dealt with a new challenge of water shortage.

According to Africanews, some of the residents clamoured and were cited saying; "We are suffering because of the lack of water."

"We don't know what to do, we the people of Goma are suffering."

Local media in the country reported that the shortage of water is due to problems in the pipes that distribute the water among the different neighborhoods.

According to Marc Mulebi, another resident of Goma, "The Congolese government should do everything possible to solve this problem because when there is no water, people risk disappearing into the lake while trying to take water during the day and night.

"There are many people and there is no water in the taps."

UNICEF had earlier reported that without access to safe water and sanitation, people are at increased risk of waterborne diseases.
