Helicopter Crash Claims Three Lives In DR Congo

A security services source and a witness on Tuesday revealed that a mining company's helicopter crashed in the southeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, killing three individuals.

At a mine in Kambove, Haut-Katanga province, the helicopter crashed into a gully several minutes after taking off on Monday due to poor weather.

The French pilot, a South African administrator, and a Polish executive overseeing security were all killed, according to a source in the security services.

According to Francis Lwamba, a company security guard who witnessed the accident, the helicopter was owned by the cobalt and copper corporation Boss Mining and was on its way to Kolwezi in the adjoining Lualaba region.
