DSS: Nnamdi Kanu Resumes Trial In Same Attire Despite Judge’s Order

DSS: Nnamdi Kanu Resumes Trial In Same Attire Despite Judge

Trouble As FG File Fresh Charges Against IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu

The Department of State Services (DSS) has flouted the order of Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court as Nnamdi Kanu returned for his trial on Wednesday with the same attire.

Recall that on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Justice Binta Nyako ordered the DSS to make sure Kanu has a change of clothes after complaints by the accused’s lead counsel Chief Mike Ozekhome that he was being kept in solitary confinement.

“I don’t want to see him in these clothes again. This one is almost off-white. Also, make sure that you allow him to exercise,” Nyako had said.

But the DSS flouted the order of the judge as the secret police produced Kanu in court on Wednesday clad in the same attire.

The IPOB leader has been spotting the same Fendi designer's clothes since he was arrested in June 2021.

Kanu is a holder of Nigerian and British passports. He had earlier jumped bail in June 2018 before leaving for the United Kingdom though he said that he fled because his life was no longer safe in Nigeria.

The IPOB leader is currently facing terrorism-related charges and has since been remanded in the DSS custody in Abuja.

Justice Nyako had on Tuesday adjourned the trial of Kanu to January 19, 2022 (today).
