DSS Re-Invites Obadiah Mailafiya For Further Interogation

DSS Re-Invites Obadiah Mailafiya For Further Interogation

Following recent allegations made by the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Obadiah Mailafiya, the Department of State Security (DSS) has issued another invitation.

AllNews gathered that reports that Dr. Obadiah Mailafiya was re-invited for further discussion with the force.

Mailafiya is expected to be at the DSS office Jos, Plateau state capital, by 12 noon on Monday, August 17, 2020.

Mailafiya's fresh invitation was confirmed via a message stating that Obadiah is standing with former House of Representatives Speaker, Alhaji Ghali Umar Na’Abba, who will also appear before DSS, today (Monday).

The message read in part: “We stand firmly with Comrade the Rt. Hon. Ghali Na’bba. Solidarity forever! “Comrades kindly be notified that the Men in Black have invited me for a ‘chat’ yet again. I’m to appear before them at the Jos Command HQ of DSS at 12.00 noon today Monday. Solidarity forever!”

AllNews recalls that Mailafia had during a radio programme on Monday, August 10th said that Boko Haram members had revealed to him that a serving Northern governor was a commander of the terrorist group and that the terrorists were planning to plunge the country into another civil war by 2022.

Mailafiya was in the DSS premises for six hours but released unconditionally.

Addressing his supporters after his release last Wednesday, Mailafiya said, “What I want to say is that, yes, all of those words were made by me, you know if the whole of the 55 minutes was played out, the context of what I said in a small clip that went viral would have become clearer.

“This is is not the time to disown what I said. Yes, I was privy to some very sensitive information which all statesmen are entitled to have by virtue of our public roles. I know that I should have taken more care to corroborate some of the information I received, but perhaps some of it was uncorroborated. I was in no position to follow them to the camp to corroborate what was going on.

“But I am not a sensationalist, I am an economist and a central banker, by nature we are not given to sensation.”

However, AllNews understands that the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) also fined the radio station N5 million for airing Mailafiya’s interview.
