Dwayne Johnson has presented himself as the next actor to play the popular character of British spy James Bond, stating why he wants the part.
It is public knowledge that Daniel Craig's most recent portrayal of 007 in No Time to Die is his last and now, producers will no doubt be searching for someone to fill in the iconic shoes of the beloved agent.
Dwayne Johnson's late grandfather, Peter Maivia was featured alongside Sean Connery (also deceased) in the 1967 Bond film You Only Live Twice and now, the Red Notice star aims to follow in his ancestor's footsteps, but in a more prominent capacity.

Per a MovieWeb report, Johnson responded to a question about being in a Bond movie like his father and he said he would love to join the franchise only as the British spy himself.
"Yes, my grandfather was a Bond villain in You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery. Very, very cool. I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond. I don't want to be a villain. Gotta be Bond", he stated.

Many may not pay much attention to the former WWE star's words being that he is American but we have seen actors who aren't British take on such roles.
Nothing is certain at this point as the Bond search begins but Johnson nabbing the role would indeed be a unique spin on the iconic character who is anything but buff and gigantic like the actor.
