The anti-hero known as Black Adam is one of DC Comics' most famous personalities famous for possessing physical abilities rivaling that of Superman himself.
Dwayne Johnson has been attached to the role since 2014, and there was talk of him debuting the character in Shazam (2019) but that apparently never came to fruition.
No doubt, fans have been keen on seeing the hulking movie star portray Black Adam; he has the physique and the acting chops to pull it off, plus he is a box office star.

Just last year, things started to finally move in place as filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra was announced to be the one to direct Shazam. There was also the addition of major cast members and the project was only stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Presently, moves are being made to get production moving as former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan was cast as Dr. Fate, joining Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher), Quintessa Swindell (Cyclone), and Aldis Hodge (Hawkeye).

On Sunday, Johnson made a special announcement via social media, writing the following words: "A disruptive and unstoppable global force of a message from the man in black himself."
"BLACK ADAM is coming July 29, 2022. The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change."
The revelation is a most welcome one and we can only hope that everything moves smoothly so that the movie's scheduled release date will not be shifted further.
