E Choke Vs E Don Spoil: 30 BG, Wizkid FC Clash

One thing we will never see the end of is fans pitting their faves against each other. Fandom is cute, but it becomes destructive when it is in excess. Downplaying the work of one artiste in order to promote another and online arguments on who is bigger than who is not new. 

One thing to note is that just anything can spark fan wars, especially on the microblogging app, Twitter. And trust those Twitter peeps to always do the most.

From comparing which Big Brother Nigeria housemate has the most endorsement deals or is more successful, to arguing which artiste has the most international collaboration.

It is certain that if not for the display of friendship between Omah Lay, Bella Shmurda, and Oxlade when Omah Lay won the Next Rated at the recently concluded Headies Award, fans would have pitted them against each other and trashed one work in order for their faves to look like the best.

Wizkid

The most common fan wars in the Nigerian Twitter community is always between Wizkid's fans (Wizkid FC) and Davido's fans (30 BG). Those two fanbase lock horns on every slightest discussion. Wizkid FC and 30BG are famous for their endless online wars and clashes over whom among their faves have more hit songs, international recognition, sold-out shows, and awards.

First, it was pitting Davido's 'A Better Time' against Wizkid's 'Made in Lagos'. Wizkid FC renamed ABT 'A Better Trash' while 30 BG called MIL a floppy disc. Downplaying someone's work to make another look better, has to be witchcraft.

We are yet to get over the Wizkid vs Davido Grammy fight now Twitter is buzzing hard over the better slang between Davido’s “E choke” and Wizkid’s new “E don Spoil.'

Let me walk you through the bone of contention.

So it started when Bella Shmurda flew all the way to Ghana to meet Wizkid at his apartment. Obviously, Shmurda was not just in Ghana for visitation only. Based on the video that surfaced online, the two are working on a music collaboration.

While in the studio chilling, Machalla and Bella threw out the slang 'E Don Spoil', and that alone sprang up the war.

Somehow, 30BG and Wizkid FC made the slang a Wizkid vs Davido competition. See some of Twitter reactions to the slang:

If Davido and Wizkid collaborate on a song, guess who will spoil it? Their fans. You know why? They won't stop fighting over who has the better verse between the two. 

Davido and Wizkid have both done well in moving the Nigerian music scene forward. The least that could be done is to commend them, not pitting them against each other all the time. It's getting boring.
