The Enugu State Chairman of the National Association of E-hailing Operators, Ugochukwu Agu, has expressed the association's readiness to partner with security agancies for crime prevention in the state.

Agu who was elected Chairman of the association in Enugu pledged to work closely with various security agencies as cab drivers are major security stakeholders.

He also promised to ensure that the welfare of the members of the association is given priority under his leadership.

"We have over 300 members and there are issues that we are still discussing.

"Issues that have to do with welfare and right price and security, which we are still discussing with our partners, Uber and Bolt.

"We would work to have a cordial relationship with the government.

"I have the intention to visit the commissioner of Police, the GOC 82 Division of the Nigerian Army and then the Commissioner of Transport because drivers are major stakeholders in the issue of security.

"If you want to know what is happening in any society, look for cab operators. They know what is happening in town.

"The challenge we face is majorly harassment from airport taxi operators who harass drivers who go to the airport to pick passengers.

"We are working with the airport authorities to see a way to bring it to a stop.

"We are also calling on Uber and Bolt to profile their passengers.

"When a passenger places an order, he sees everything about the driver but the driver does not see anything about the passenger.

"The driver needs to know who he is carrying his own safety."

Agu also disclosed that he has issued an order for all the members of the association to get registered ahead of the 2023 general elections as it is their passport to good governance.
