Eagles Training Session In Abuja Marred By Power Outage

Eagles Training Session In Abuja Marred By Power Outage

Tuesday's training session for the Super Eagles ended on a very disappointing and embarrassing note as the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja was plunged into darkness.

The floodlights of the stadium failed to come on as the Eagles were forced to train in darkness in preparation for their AFCON qualifying fixtures against the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau.

21 players reportedly took part in the session that was scheduled by 6:00 pm, training for just about an hour before the main bowl was covered in total darkness.

While waiting for the floodlights to come on, coach Jose Peseiro continued with the session for 25 minutes to complete his tactical training but was forced to end training when his players struggled to train in the cover of darkness.

Making their way out of the facility, the Eagles had a forlorn look on their faces as they made use of their phone's torchlight to navigate their way to the team bus which drove them back to the hotel.

While it remains unclear why power wasn't restored in the stadium, the Portuguese and his wards still have today and tomorrow to cover up for lost grounds before taking on Guinea Bissau on Friday by 5:00 pm.
