The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kebbi State has warned motorists against dangerous driving, excessive speeding, use of phones while driving and other violations of traffic rules during the Easter celebration.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Yusuf Haruna, gave the warning in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Haruna said that there would be a massive deployment of both Regular and Special Marshals for the special patrol operations to control traffic and check excesses of motorists.

“In a bid to ensure a seamless 2022 Easter period celebration, the FRSC RS10.2, Kebbi state Sector Command, has deployed personnel, patrol vehicles and ambulances across the state.

“This is to ensure free vehicular movement and safety of all categories of road users during the Easter celebration in the state.

“The command has synergised with all security agencies and relevant stakeholders as a proactive measure to ensure free road traffic crash during the Easter period in all nooks and crannies of the state.”

The FRSC sector commander called on the general public to avoid anything that can cause a road traffic crash.

“These include dangerous driving, excessive speeding, use of phone while driving, route violation and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol among other traffic violations,” he said.

Haruna, however, reiterated the commitments of FRSC to ensure that motorists get to their various destinations safely without any hitches.

He advised motorists to renew their Drivers Licence and vehicle documents when they expire.

The FRSC sector commander, who said that road safety is a collective responsibility,  called on motorists and road users to call the FRSC or National emergency numbers 112 and 122 in case of an eventuality.
