Easter celebration: NSCDC to deploy 1,350 personnel

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Cross River has announced plans to deploy 1,350 personnel across the state to enhance the safety of lives and property during the Easter celebration.

Superintendent Solomon Eremi, the spokesperson of the command, revealed this to journalists in Calabar on Wednesday, stating that the deployment will include both uniformed and plain-clothed officers.

Their mandate will be to safeguard public facilities, churches, and recreational centers spanning the 18 local government areas of the state.

“The corps’ ultimate aim is to ensure that the people enjoy a peaceful Easter celebration.

“To ensure this, our men and officers will secure all the flash points in the state as well as manning the public spaces.

“Aside from the fact that we will be deploying both plain clothes and uniform personnel, our tactical team will also be involved.”

While enjoining the people to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the celebration, the spokesman appealed to the public to volunteer any information that would assist the Corps in crime prevention.
