Easter: Fire Service Cautions Nigerians On Fire Outbreaks

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has told citizens to take precautions against fire outbreaks amid the Easter celebrations.

The warning was given by Samson Karebo, Acting Controller-General of the FFS, in a statement by the service's Public Relations Officer, Paul Abraham on Saturday in Abuja.

Karebo sent a message to Christians, advising them to take the necessary steps in order to avoid fire outbreaks as the festivity involves the use of constant gas, electricity, charcoal, and other burning materials.

He stated that it was important not to get carried away while making use of combustibles.

"Don’t leave cooking unattended, keep matchsticks away from children, and keep gas cylinders outside the kitchen among other measures.

"All these, and more must be complied with to avoid fire incidences during the celebration as fire could dangerously disrupt the joy that comes with Easter", he cautioned.

Speaking further, he added that he had instructed all fire service commands to be on red alert to ensure quick response to emergencies during the Easter celebration.

Karebo urged Nigerians to familiarise themselves with the fire service closest to them by getting the contact of appropriate personnel in the event of a fire emergency.
