ECOWAS Ministers meet in Abuja over Burkina Faso, Mali, Nige

The Foreign Affairs Ministers of ECOWAS are currently convening in Abuja, Nigeria to address the contentious exit of  Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Republic from the West African Bloc.

The ministers will also talk on the recent huge protests in Senegal following the postponement of the country's presidential election.

Dr. Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, noted that the conference will discuss the notification of withdrawal from the three countries as well as its broader ramifications.

This conference comes after the military-led West African countries announced their immediate exit from ECOWAS on January 27, citing the organization's perceived threat to its membership.
