Ede Electricity Supply Will Improve Soon  — Transmission C

In a bid to tackle the epileptic supply of electricity to the two local governments in Ede and the surrounding towns, work has progressed on the construction of the 60 MVA Ede power substation.

The construction work on the power substation it was learnt began in March 2011.

This assurance was given in a statement by the member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam on the heels of a meeting with the management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

This was made known in a statement signed by Oladele Bamiji, Special Assistant on Strategic Communication in Osogbo on Sunday.

Salam while promising to offer all necessary legislative support to the project as well as other infrastructure to enhance the power supply in Ede, assured that the communities will liaise more with the contractors handling the project to offer necessary cooperation and monitoring.

Responding, Victor Adewumi, Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider, TCN, disclosed that the epileptic power in Ede was is complicated due to the fact that transmission of electricity has always been shared between the Osun State Water Works, Ede and the communities.

According to him, "Ede, being one of the most rapidly expanding communities in Osun State, compounded pressure on the current transmission capacity of the substation serving the area.

"We appeal to community leaders in Ede to continue to cooperate with the contractors handling the project."

Adewumi assured that the company will do all within its powers to complete the substation very soon.
