The Edo State House of Assembly has, on Monday, October 12, 2020, impeached Frank Okiye as its speaker.
The decision to impeach him as the speaker of the house came after Henry Okhurobo, the minority leader of the house, moved a motion for his impeachment over allegations of high-handedness.
Following Okiye's impeachment, the House elected Marcus Onobun to immediately assume the speakership position.
Okoye's removal notice letter was signed and passed by nine of ten members that were physically present at the house brief sitting on Monday.
