Women of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state have taken to the street to protest the removal of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Frank Okiye, who was impeached Thursday by a faction of the lawmakers.
The women who embarked on a solidarity march to the State House of Assembly in Benin city walked from the government house along Osadebey Avenue to the Anthony Enahoro Complex, along Ring Road.
Condemning the 17All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers who impeached Okiye, the women said they were in solidarity with the embattled Speaker of the House.
Allnews had reported how 17 of the Edo lawmakers impeached Okiye as the speaker of the Assembly at a private residence in Benin, electing Victor Edoror as the new Speaker.
A section of the women, who claimed to be spiritualists, were seen laying curses at the Assembly gate.
