Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has said that his second term ambition is not worth losing the life of any Edo citizen.
Making this disclosure in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Crusoe Osagie, Obaseki who berated the way things were turning out ahead of the state election said that an election is supposed to be a contest where people go to sell their ideal, not where people will do anything just to get power.
Obaseki made the statement at the conclusion of a one-day prayer and fasting session for a peaceful election, organised by the Edo Christian Community for all the governorship candidates ahead of the election.

Noting that there was no need for violence during the election, Obaseki said, “ordinarily, an election is supposed to be a contest where people go to sell their ideal, and citizens in their own free will go and vote for those ideals they believe in; it shouldn’t be one where people will do anything to get power.
“Election should not be one in which we shed blood because the election will always come. If you die in an election, you will not be there in the next one to vote. So, there is no need for violence," he said.
Further pointing out that there is fear that the election was going to be marred by violence, Obaseki however prayed against bloodshed.
“We will all come out and vote and there won’t be any bloodshed,” he said,
