Edo Decides 2020: Nigerian Singer, Davido Anticipates Polls

Nigerian singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, better known as Davido, has prayed that Saturday's Edo elections are safe.

AllNews reports that the Edo State gubernatorial election is billed for Saturday, September 19, 2020.

The two leading contenders are Godwin Obaseki and Osagie Ize – Iyamu of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) respectively.

Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police, declared that 31,000 men would be deployed to provide security for the election.

Davido has often campaigned for the PDP, previously endorsing his uncle, Ademola Adeleke for governor in Osun, his state of origin.

Edo State is a state in Southern Nigeria. Its capital is Benin City. The 2014 estimated population of the Edo state is 5 million people. It is made up of 4 major ethnic groups; namely the Bini, Esan, Owan, and Etsako.

Davido via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday wished all the 14 governorship candidates in Edo "good luck".
