The flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the forthcoming Governorship election in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has revealed why the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Godwin Obaseki will be defeated at the polls.
Ize-Iyamu who reacted to Obaseki's PDP endorsement said that the party has no strategy for victory and has resorted to excuses and mudslinging.
According to Ize-Iyamu, Obaseki and PDP will lose because the party is fielding “the man it had roundly condemned as a non-achiever”.
Further mocking PDP for singing Godwin Obaseki’s praise after condemning him during the state's 2016 election Governorship, Ize-Iyamu in a statement by his campaign spokesman, John Mayaki, said the same PDP dragged Obaseki before a judge, pointing out the inconsistencies in his academic records in 2016.
Ize-Iyamu recalled that the PDP hailed Obaseki for his programmes and policies but the party accused the governor of reversing the development of Edo State just a few weeks ago.
He added that PDP was using an “opponents’ negative publicity to show its lack of content, vision, ideas, and as a shield for the internal wrangling ongoing in the party.”
Being the Flagbearer of the PDP in 2016, Ize-Iyamu, however, dumped the party to contest on the platform of APC at the state's forthcoming election.
