Edo guber: APC committee holds emergency meeting over primary election

Edo guber: APC committee holds emergency meeting over primar

Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called an emergency meeting of the NWC to be held in Abuja.

The meeting, which is being held behind closed doors at the APC national secretariat, is reportedly intended to resolve the issues surrounding the three candidates who emerged victorious from last Saturday's parallel primaries to represent the party as flagbearer for the September 21 election.

The agenda for the meeting has not been made public in full.

Insiders, however, told Daily Trust that the meeting's purpose is to discuss the controversial results of the primaries, strongly implying that a new primary may be approaching.

The recent developments, in which one of the candidates, Hon. Anamero Dekeri, made headlines by claiming he had achieved the highest vote count during Saturday's primaries and demanded a certificate of return from Ganduje, highlight the necessity of the meeting.

Dennis Idahosa was declared the winner of the APC Primary Election Committee by Governor Hope Uzodimma at the Protea Hotel in Benin, setting up a confused scene for the electorate.

Concurrently, at a different function held at Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu's home, Senator Monday Okpebholo was pronounced the winner.

Complicating matters further, Anamero Sunday Dekeri, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Etsako Federal Constituency, was declared the winner in another area of the city by Ojo Babatunde, a representative of the local government returning officers.
