EFCC Intercepts Suspect With 576 ATM Cards At Kano Airport

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has nabbed a suspect bound for Uganda, Khalil Bashir Lawal with 576 ATM cards at the Kano airport.

The suspect was arrested at the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano few days after three suspects were nabbed with 1,144 ATM cards by the EFCC.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren said the arrest took place on Monday.

He stated that the operation that led to the arrest of the suspect was in collaboration with Nigeria Aviation Security and Nigeria Customs Service.

The suspect was found with 576 ATM cards with different names and banks concealed in his bag before his arrest. 

Uwujaren added that Khalil will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

A Kano State High Court presided by Justice Jamilu Shehu had convicted three suspects who were arrested at the same airport with 1,144 ATM cards.

The suspects were sentenced to six months imprisonment on Monday.
