EFCC Nabs 52 Internet Fraudsters In Ogun State

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 52 persons suspected of engaging in internet fraud.

The anti-corruption agency said the arrest was carried out in a significant operation carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ogun State.

It also said the Lagos Zonal Command of the agency spearheaded the arrests, targeting those involved in computer-related scams.

On Friday, the EFCC made an announcement through a statement, revealing the successful operation.

"Among the suspects taken into custody are Olamilekan Jamiu Ayuba, Ogundeyi Oluwaseun Kayode, Abdulrahman Ismail Abiodun, Blessing Oluwaseun Omokaro, Olasupo Ademola Ridwan, Adetola Roqeeb Salau, Adeola Alamin Ideraoluwa, Victor Daniel Osikwemeh, Taiwo Ayobami, Eleshin Ademola, Ayomipo Adelere, Shogbesan Quadri, Sanni Qudus, Olanite Oluwatosin, Olatunbosun Yusuf Alameen, Aderemi Adewole Adekunle, Olawunmi Oluwaseyi Tosin, Ayobado Joseph Olatunde, Ariyo Temitope Taofik, Olugbade David, and Olumayowa Adeyemi Adedayo.

"Additionally, those arrested include Aremu Ahmed Alabi, Akintosoye Tomiwa Pelumi, Fatoye Damilare Akanbi, and Adio Emmanuel Oyebanji. The remaining individuals taken into custody are Adekoya Samuel, Adebayo Taiwo, Olawale Bayole, Emmanuel Benjamin, Omotosho Ayobami, Usman Boluwatife, Adewale Adeniyi, Obadina Olawunmi, Ashiru Abdullahi, Ahmed Mubarak, Idowu Kazeem, Olukoya Emmanuel, Yusuf Lukman, Agesin Eniola, Tajudeen Mustapha, Falola Olalekan, Usman Funsh, Bolaji Usman, Ayiyon Naoh, Mohammed Adeoye, Babatunde Seun, Afela Mustapha, Yusuf Habeeb Olanrewaju, Alao Ayomide, Oyeleye Uman Abduljelil Raji, and Adeniyi Abdulmojeeb."

According to the EFCC, these arrests were conducted during carefully planned sting operations that took place between June 7 and June 8, 2023.

It followed credible intelligence received by the Commission regarding the involvement of certain individuals in computer-related fraud within specific areas of the state.
