EFCC Probe: I Won't Run Away After My Tenure — Governor Wike

EFCC Probe: I Won't Run Away After My Tenure — Governor Wi

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that he has no plan to run from the probing eyes of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) when his tenure is over.

Wike's words were in response to the anti-graft agency's recent disclosure of its plan to go after outgoing corrupt officials.

EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa who made the revelation last Friday did not mention names but added that the public officials would be made to face the law.

In his reaction on Monday while fielding questions on Channels Television's breakfast programme, 'Sunrise', Governor Wike who is suspected to be one of those under EFCC scrutiny said he is not bothered.

He stated that unlike what some of his predecessors did, he will be a part of the handover ceremony and will honour the invitation of EFCC if he is summoned.

“I’m not going to run away because of EFCC. Why should they invite me?

“If they invite me, I will honour their invitation. I will not run away”, he said.
