EFCC Storms Kano Exchange Market

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's officials on Thursday stormed Wapa, an area housing most Bureau De Change operators in Fagge local government of Kano.

Reports gathered that the arrival of the operatives sent the bureau de change operators into hiding in fear of arrest.

But Secretary, Bureau De Change Operators, Ibrahim Saleh Ɗahiru  who confirmed the 'visit' by EFCC officials said no one was arrested.

He said the operators just went about the market without uttering a word.

Reports insinuated that the operators may be investigatinh claims of mopping and hoarding foreign currency, leading scarcity of the dollar in the state.

The exchange rate between the naira and US dollar continues to rise, hitting ₦715 to s dollar few days back.
