EFCC Vows To Bring Alison-Madueke To Justice

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has vowed to ensure that a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke is repatriated to Nigerian to face criminal charges against her.

Acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu made the pledge on Wednesday while speaking with journalists during a visit to the Ibadan zonal office of the EFCC.

He said the Commission had traced several criminal activities ranging from abuse of office, bribery, fraud, misuse of public funds and money-laundering to the former minister who is currently at large to avoid questions on alleged criminal activities during her years as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“This year we must get her because they have no reason to keep her. They have not taken her to court and we are in the fifth year, why should we be investigating a matter for five years?

“It’s a straight forward case, you know it’s a financial crimes investigation; it’s not a murder case, this is a straightforward case, if you don’t have any sufficient evidence to establish any offence, bring her back, we have more than enough evidence to take her to court.

“I don’t know why they are protecting her, release her let her come back to Nigeria; they are giving her protection for whatever reason and they are yet to disclose whatever offence she has committed, they are only relying on the evidence we have recovered,” he stressed.

The anti-graft czar, who wondered why her current country of abode had not surrendered her to Nigeria to face justice, said the EFCC would do everything within its power to get her prosecuted this year.
