According to Egypt's military spokesman, nine army troops were killed or injured in an accident on the outskirts of Cairo on Monday.
Officers and other ranks were among those killed when a military carrier vehicle laden with ammunition "suddenly overturned."
The tragedy occurred during planned training activities south of Ramadan City, said spokesman Colonel Gharib Abdel Hafez.
The cause of the incident is yet to be known.
The Egypt military spokesperson told reporters that an investigation into the cause of the accident has begun.
