Eid-el-Fitr: Buni reveals programme launch, urges youths to

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has said his administration is set to launch a programme to facilitate agricultural revolution and enhance food security.

The governor stated this in his message to Muslims across the state to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the 30-day 2024 Ramadan fasting.

Governor Buni also urged youths in the state to take advantage of the agricultural programme and expand the farm potential in their communities.

He said: “I wish to use this opportunity to appeal to the good people of Yobe state, especially our energic youth, to take advantage of this intervention to explore, exploit and expand the agricultural potentials in your various communities.

“Our government is committed to making agriculture productive, attractive, and profitable in the state. This is to promote food sufficiency and security in the state."

In a statement on Wednesday, the governor's Senior Special Assistant on Communications and Strategy, Yusuf Ali said Buni assured the people that the government would continue to provide the necessary infrastructure to fastrack development to improve the people's lives.

He added that the Governor congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the one-month Ramadan fast and prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to accept every act of worship executed by the people during the holy month.

He also congratulated Muslims who were privileged to perform the lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Saudi Arabia and wished them a safe return to Nigeria.

The governor said: “As we celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the one-month religious obligation, l enjoin us all to take the lessons of sacrifice, care and compassion exhibited during the fasting period beyond the Ramadan season.

“I am particularly impressed with the massive feeding programme provided by government, individuals, and corporate organisations to orphans, indigent families, and vulnerable groups. This should be encouraged even after Ramadan."
