Eid-el-Fitr: Ganduje Pays Fines For 90 Inmates

Governor Ganduje

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the freedom of 90 inmates of the Central Prison in the Kano metropolis.

The Governor announced this on Monday after he paid their fines in the spirit of the Sallah celebration.

According to him, the gesture is part of the state government’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of the common man, especially those inmates who could not pay the fine.

The governor urged the released prisoners to be of good conduct after their reunion with their respective families, as he gave each of the released inmates N5,000 to enable them to transport themselves to their respective home towns and villages.

Speaking afterward, the Controller of Prisons in the state, Suleiman Inuwa, appreciated the Governor's gesture and commended the administration for its continuous support for prisons in the state.

He called on the beneficiaries to avoid anything that could result in their being imprisoned again.

The governor also visited the remand home, people with special needs, and the Nasarawa graveyard to offer prayers for the deceased.
