Eid-el-Fitr: Governor Idris extends olive branch to oppositi

The Governor of Kebbi, Nasir Idris has extended an olive branch to opposition parties, asking them to support his administration to strengthen governance and enhance the economic growth of the state.

The governor made the call in his message to the people of the state in commemoration of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration on Wednesday, marking the end of the 2024 Ramadan fasting.

Governor Idris reiterated the commitment of his administration to enhance infrastructural, economic, agricultural, educational development and provide quality health services to the people. 

He further felicitated residents on the Eid-el-Fitr celebration and completion of the 2024 Ramadan fasting, urging them to sustain prayers for the success of his administration, peace, security and prosperity of the state.

He said: "Now that elections and politics are over, I am inviting the people of the state of all shades of opinion irrespective of party affinity to partake actively in the development of our state to reach the level of development desired. 

"Majority of the people voted for me, I am thanking them as well as others for their support, loyalty and cooperation.

"The General Hospitals in Argungu, Yauri and Zuru, would be fully rehabilitated and equipped with modern facilities to serve the inhabitants and operate as referral health institutions."

As contained in a statement by his spokesperson, Yahaya Sarki, the governor expressed his joy over the return of peace in the Kebbi South initially battling insecurity, adding that the security of the region now allows farmers to attend to their farmlands without fear.

The statement partly reads: "In his remarks, the Minister of State for Education, Dr Tanko Yusuf Sununu, who performed the Eid prayer with Governor Nasir Idris, urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the success of the Tinubu administration at Federal and state levels. 

"Dr Sununu described Governor Nasir Idris as a capable leader with the requisite ability to govern as demonstrated by the level of development achieved since assumption of power. 

"Earlier at the Eid praying ground in Birnin Kebbi where the Imam, Umar Lawal led the two rakaat prayer, the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar thanked the Almighty Allah for the successful completion of Ramadan Fast.

"He called on the Muslim faithful to continue to be steadfast in prayers for peace and progress of Nigeria."
