Eight Burnt to Death, Three Injured In Lagos-Ibadan Expressw

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) of Ogun state has said that eight persons were burnt to death in a lone accident which occurred around Saapade Bridge by Straight Gate College on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday.

Confirming the accident on Sunday, the FRSCvSector Commander, Ahmed Umar said the accident, which involved a Mazda bus, was caused by burst tyre which resulted into loss of control and thereafter went up in flames.

“The suspected cause of the lone accident involving the Mazda bus marked AAA 249 VX was burst tyre, which led to loss of control and then crashed.”

Umar said the Fire Service in Sagamu was immediately contacted by the FRSC for a joint rescue operation.

He also confirmed that 11 persons were involved in the accident – three male adults, one female adult, a child and six other unidentified persons – adding that three injured victims were rushed to Idera Hospital, Sagamu, for medical care while the Health Department of Remo North Local Government was reached for the burnt victims.

He further admonished motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations, drive with caution and also ensure that their vehicle is in good condition before putting it on the road.
