Ekiti 2022: 17,000 Policemen, Soldiers Dispatched Ahead Of S

Police officers and military personnel have been deployed to Ekiti State in preparation for the gubernatorial election scheduled for Saturday, June 18.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Johnson Kokumo, who is in charge of the state governorship poll urged the people of the state to respect the law and the electoral process.

According to him, doing the above would ensure security in the state and prevent the breakdown of law and order while ensuring the peaceful conduct of the poll.

"Over 17,000 police operatives deployed for the Ekiti poll are meant to secure the state and not for any form of intimidation of citizens but to secure lives and the rule of law", Kokumo stated during a briefing in Ado-Ekiti.

He further stated that soldiers would be at the borders of the communities to prevent intruders from gaining entry.

"All policemen attached to VIPs should be withdrawn and made to return to base for the purpose of the election", he said.

The Ekiti State Police Command has released two dedicated phone numbers for the purpose of the 2022 Ekiti State governorship election.

In a press statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti Command, Sunday Abutu, members of the public are enjoined to make use of the dedicated lines in case of emergency reports or complaints.

The dedicated lines are 09021198809 and 07059119144.
