Ekiti Assembly Declares Seven Days Mourning For Late Speaker

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has set aside seven days as mourning period in honour of the late Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye.

Afuye reportedly died of cardiac arrest at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.

The Ekiti State Government has also confirmed the death of Afuye, describing it as a sad developmemt and huge loss to the state.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Media, Yemisi Ayokunle in a statement in Ado-Ekiti said the flag in the Assembly complex would be flown at half mast during the period.

Ayokunle describing the late Speaker as an embodiment of courage, excellence and a highly committed man to public service, maintained that he would be greatly missed.

Afuye was 66 years of age at the time of his demise.
