The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has signed the Sexual Violence Against Children (Compulsory Treatment and Care) Law 2020 bill into law, making provisions for child victims of sexual abuse.
During the signing of the bill at the Government House in the state capital, Ado Ekiti, the governor decried the spate of reported cases of sexual abuse in the state.
He also stated that sexual offenders needed to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, adding that the country needs to come together to fight the issue of rape he dubbed as a "monster."
The signing of the Sexual Violence Against Children (Compulsory Treatment and Care) Law 2020 into law entails the provision of rapid medical care for children who experience sexual abuse.

It also makes it compulsory forwards and caregivers of minors to report such incidences to relevant authorities and the order of reparations to the victims.
