Ekiti State Government Reacts To Death Of Speaker

The Ekiti State Government has reacted the death of Funminiyi Afuye, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, Yinka Oyebode in a statement on Wednesday confirmed the development.

Oyebode stated that the late Speaker represented Ikere 1 State Constituency of the state.

While noting that the state government was not happy about the sudden demise of the Speaker, the spokesperson of the governor added that the deceased was 66 years of age.

The deceased was a former Commissioner of Information and two-time member of the State Legislature.

Afuye was assumed office as Speaker of the sixth Assembly on June 6, 2019.

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye reportedly died at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital of a cardiac arrest on Wednesday.
