Ekiti Supplementary Election: Residents Await Result

Residents of Ido-Osi constituency I are awaiting the results of the House of Assembly supplementary election conducted in three polling units in Ido Ekiti local government.

The results of the three units were cancelled during the last House of Assembly election held on March 18, 2023 due to violence.

The three major political parties slugging it out for the Ido-Osi constituency I are All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The candidate of SDP in the election, Muyiwa Fadahunsi stated that he was not satisfied with the process.

He alleged that some of his loyalists were intimidated and disenfranchised.

However, the candidate of the APC, Babatunde Faweku denied the allegation maintaining that he did not visit any of the polling units.

During his visit to the poling units, Ekiti state Commissioner of Police, Dare Ogundare said the election was peaceful.

Ogundare noted that all electorate were given equal opportunity to exercise their franchise.

Also, the representative of EFCC, Eze Sunday said that poll was devoid of vote buying as nobody was arrested

It was observed that security agencies, comprising the Nigerian Police, NSCDC, EFCC and Soldiers of the Nigerian Army were on ground to ensure that the exercise was held peacefully.

Meanwhile, the APC won twenty three seats while SDP secured two seats of the Ekiti State House of Assembly during the last election.
