Ekiti: Teenager Arraigned For Stealing Phone

The police on Monday arraigned an 18-year-old boy, Emmanuel Patrick, at an Ado-Ekiti MagistratesCourt over alleged stealing.

The defendant, who has no established residence, is on trial for theft.

According to the police prosecutor, Sodiq Adeniyi, the defendant committed the crime on November 12 at around 2:00 a.m. at Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi said that the defendant violated section 302(a) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2021, by stealing an itel phone worth N8,000 that belonged to Olusola Felicia.

For him to review the case file and gather his witnesses, he pleaded with the court to postpone the case.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Gbenga Ariyibi, the defendant's attorney, pleaded with the court to release his client on bail and assured the court that his client would not escape.

The magistrate, Dolapo Kay-Williams, set the defendant's bail at N5,000 with one surety in the same amount and adjourned the case for a hearing on December 7.
