The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has called on the Nigerian Embassy in the United Kingdom to support Ike Ekweremadu following his arrest over alleged organ harvesting.
The former Deputy Senate President and his wife Beatrice were apprehended by the UK police and are in detention pending their court trial on July 7.
Both Ekweremadu and his wife have denied the charges brought up against them.
Channels reports that Gbajabiamila while presiding over a plenary session on Tuesday, asked Nigerian High Commission in the UK to give Ekweremadu all the support he needs.
The Speaker stated that he is communicating with the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK to make sure that everything required for the defence of Ekweremadus is made available to them.
