Former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice appeared before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court in the United Kingdom over organ harvesting charges on Thursday.
The couple was arrested by the Specialist Crime Team of the Metropolitan Police in London for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organ of a child and has been in custody in the UK.
According to the prosecutor, David Ukpo, the boy involved in the case who alleged that he was deceived to donate his kidney, is 15 years old.
Per a Channels TV update, the case has now been adjourned to July 7 at Westminster Magistrate Court to enable the UK Attorney General, Suella Braverman, to determine whether the case will be tried in the country or Nigeria.
A delegation from the Nigerian Senate will pay a visit to Ekweremadu in London on Friday.
