Election Tribunal Holds Inaugural Sitting In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa National and State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal has held its inaugural sitting in Yenagoa.

It was learnt that out of the 31 petitions it received, a total of nine were from the outcome of the National Assembly elections and 22 were from State House of Assembly polls.

The Chairman of the second panel, Justice Oluwatoyin Fadeyi, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues.

“We solicit your support and cooperation in administering justice to all manner of people via petitions filed before the tribunal.

"As it is described, election petitions before the tribunal are time bound and by their nature peculiar from other proceedings.

“We undertake to abide by our oath of office, and mandate in dispensing justice with the help of God almighty.”
