The President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, has been reelected as the Senator representing Yobe North in the just-concluded Saturday election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer for the Yobe North, Professor Omolola Aduloje made the announcement.
She explained that the Senate President who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 91,318 votes.
Lawan defeated his close rival, Ilu Alhaji-Bello of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 22,849 votes.
AllNews Nigeria earlier reported that the Senate President had lost the presidential ticket for the APC during the party's primary election last year.
Meanwhile, the party nominated him for the Senatorial seat which Bashir Machina had already won the primary election.
Lawan became the party's flag bearer for the Yobe North Senatorial District upon a Supreme Court ruling.
