A soldier keeping an eye on elections in Kano has shot dead a former councillor, Ibrahim Nakuzama for allegedly taking a ballot box.
Nakuzama was a councillor at Getso of Gwarzo local government area.
According to BBC Hausa, the Nigerian Army is yet to make comments on the matter.
Family sources however said the deceased has been buried at his Getso hometown.
It was gathered that they are in shock at the moment but declined to give further details.

Elections in Kano today recorded many reports of violence, with victims sustaining various degrees of injuries.
However, Nakuzama's death is the first reported fatality.
