Popular human rights activist and lawyer Femi Falana has spoken on the Department of State Services (DSS) declaring the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele wanted.
Eemefiele is yet to return to the country and even though a court has stopped DSS from arresting him, the issue seems to be far from over.
While making an appearance on Channels TV, Falana said Emefiele was declared wanted over terrorism financing allegations.
According to him, such action only happens in a 'banana republic'.
“I can say without any fear that Mr Godwin Emefiele is not in Nigeria, but he has been quietly declared wanted by state Security Services.
“This can only happen in a Banana republic where the CBN Governor would be accused of a grave offence, which is terrorism financing", he stated.
Emefiele is yet to face the National Assembly after he was summoned to elaborate to the House on the reason behind the naira redesign and cash withdrawal limits.
