Veteran US rapper Eminem and legendary country singer Dolly Parton have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, alongside others like Lionel Richie, Duran Duran, and Pat Benatar.
Those honoured were recognised following votes from over 1,000 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
Commenting on the inductees, the Chairman of the Rock Hall, John Sykes, stated that each of them "had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock 'n' roll."
Parton had previously made the decision to "respectfully bow out" of the process as she said she did not want votes to take away from the others who had earned that right.
Responding to her, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said that ballots had already been sent, adding that it was up to the voters to make the final decision.
Parton later changed her mind, stating that she would accept if she was inducted.
Eminem's inclusion comes as no surprise to those familiar with his work as they know that he is seen as one of the greatest rappers of all time.
The hip-hop star's global success and acclaimed works are regarded as having broken racial barriers, paving the way for the acceptance of white rappers in pop music.
