Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has on Sunday evening launched a mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19 at Panisau, Ungogo Local Government Area.
The vaccination program was launched by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with Kano State Government and Kano Emirate committee on health targets people, especially in the rural areas to get their covid-19 jabs.
The Monarch said the need for all hands to be on deck is to ensure that proper healthcare service delivery reaches semi-urban areas.
“Our people should go out and get vaccinated against COVID-19 and other diseases. Vaccines are safe and effective,” he said.
Ado Bayero lamented how the community is facing health challenges such as poliovirus malnutrition and maternal mortality.
He appreciated the efforts of the UNICEF, the Kano State Government and other stakeholders for their consistent support and intervention in the health subsector.

The event also featured maternal and child health, routine immunization intensification, COVID-19 vaccination enhancement and zero dose implementation in five local government areas of the state.
Others who spoke at the occasion include the representative of the UNICEF in Nigeria Moulud Warfa and commissioner for Health, Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa.
