#ENDSARS: Anambra Governor Frees Illegally Detained Inmates,

Willie Obiano, the executive governor of Anambra State has ordered for the release of detainees illegally held by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Unit of the Nigerian police force.

Making this disclosure during his visit to the three offices of the defunct police units in Ekwulobia, Neni and Awkuzu, Governor Obiano promised to free other detained persons and bring to book officers responsible for the killings of innocent citizens.

"The Commissioner of Police in the state has released everyone detained illegally, and everyone remanded by the order of the court, will remain there until their cases are determined,” he said.

Obiano further revealed that a panel will on Monday be inaugurated to receive public petitions on the activities of SARS in the state.

According to Obiano, the panel will be headed by a retired Chief Judge.

The Governor on Thursday sacked James Nwafor his senior security aide, who used to be a SARS boss before his appointment.
