#EndSARS: Buhari's Media Team Meets BBC, Contradicts Buhari'

The Nigerian Presidential media team on Friday met with the British Broadcasting Commission (BBC) team over their coverage of the #EndSARS protest.

Making this disclosure in a tweet, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu on Media and Publicity  Garba Shehu revealed that the foreign news channel reported all sides of what happened during the protest.

"Following concerns expressed about reporting of #endsars in Nigeria, the presidential Media team met with the BBC team to discuss the matter. We acknowledge that the BBC has reported extensively on all sides of this story. We are pleased that the BBC has heard our concerns,"  a tweet by Garba Shehu read.

It will be recalled that President Buhari had earlier slammed BBC and CNN for their coverage of the #EndSARS protests.

Faulting BBC and CNN report, Buhari said that the foreign news media failed to give an account of the police officers that were killed, the television stations that were burnt and the prison that was opened.

"I was disgusted by the coverage, which did not give attention to the policemen that were killed, the stations that were burnt, and prisons that were opened. (They said we are all at fault. We don't have the sympathy of anyone. We are on our own)," Buhari said.

The foreign news medium earlier in October reported that some youths were shot dead at the shootings that happened at the Lekki tollgate.

While the Federal government claimed that nobody was killed when the military opened fire on the #EndSARS protesters, on peaceful protesters, CNN in a report gave a detailed account of victims of the #EndSARS protest.

The report by CNN gave a detailed account of a young protester Elisha Sunday Ibanga who died while protesting at the tollgate.

Also contained in the CNN account is an eyewitness report and testimony from a sibling of a deceased.
