#EndSars: Celebrities' Shops Vandalised, Looted By Hoodlums

The past few days in the month of October will always be remembered in the history of Nigeria, as many youths have risen up for a fight against the brutality of the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Nationwide protests across major cities in Nigeria were a culmination of weeks of anger and outcry online by the country's young people over claims of harassment and extortion by SARS.

The Federal Government came up with the new Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Team, a new unit to replace the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, (SARS), but peaceful protests continued with many rejecting it and seeking police reform.

However, a major incident that occurred amidst the nationwide peaceful protest was gunfire opened on #EndSars protesters at Lekki tollgate on Tuesday, October 20. AllNews earlier reported that the protesters came under heavy gunfire, shortly after the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced a 24-hour curfew, due to perceived violence.

Reports say some died, many were injured as others fled for their lives upon the gunfire, after soldiers arrived at the protest ground around 6:30 pm.

The EndSARS protest pushing for an end to police brutality again took a new dimension as it was hijacked by hoodlums who attacked citizens, vandalised properties, and looted stores.

Online videos see hoodlums making away with items in stores and some celebrities' stores were not left out as many of them took to their social media platforms to cry out.

1. Lilian Bach

The veteran actress who shared some photos lamented that her shop at Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall, Surulere, was looted by hoodlums and left so many destruction.

Her post reads:

"I wanted to do a video but I was angry and I couldn’t bring myself to say a word . I got the bad news that my shop at the Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall, Surulere has been vandalized and looted.
Hoodlums broke into the mall 2 nights ago to vandalize and loot all the stores located in the mall.

“They left behind so much destructions - swipe to see pics and videos . Why? Didn’t these hoodlums know that we are all suffering as a result of bad government, but some of us decided to double our hustles and not give up by being entrepreneurs ? These hoodlums have put a lot of people into huge debts as a result of the vandalization, looting and burning of innocent people’s years of hard-work. Didn’t these hoodlums know that the peaceful protests held before the massacre was for the betterment of everybody including them?

"Why do hoodlums always hijack peaceful protests and seize the opportunity to rob ,loot, vandalize and destroy properties of innocent and hard working Nigerians? No excuses for those despicable acts. You only get temporary relief from your loots and you are back to square 1.

“What we have been protesting for is what will eventually bring permanent solution to the plights of Nigerians but they wouldn’t exercise patience. They decided to be on the same level with the government! What a shame! Pls, stop the violence and destruction of properties. Stop the looting . Stop. Just stop. Mo fi oruko olorun be yin, oti to. Ema da iya kun iya fun wa. Oti to.
