#EndSars: Court Ends Prosecution Against Davido, Burna Boy,

A Superior Court has ordered Chief Magistrate Omolola Akindele, to immediately halt proceedings and the action in a criminal complaint filed by one Kenechukwu Okeke, against David Adeleke, better known as Davido, Damini Ogulu (Burna Boy), Folarin Falana (Falz), Innocent Ujah Idibia (2face), Senior Pastor, Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi and 45 other persons who supported the #EndSARS protests.

Judge Bello Kawu, who issued the order, also prevented Nigerian police from arresting or taking action against #EndSARS activists.

AllNews reported that thousands of Nigerians including celebrities partook in the #EndSars protest that rocked major cities in Nigeria, to fight against police brutality . Participants were accused of using the Twitter platform to conspire amongst themselves to commit a misdemeanor.

Judge Kawu’s ruling reads: “An order from this honorable court granting the request permission to issue and notify the accused of a request for judicial review against the direct criminal process/complaint of His Excellency Omolola Tolulope Akindele sitting in the First Court Instance II, Wuse Zone 6 in Kenechukwu Okeke Vs Deji Adeyanju and 49 others in complaint No. CR / 49/2020,"

He further stated that all proceedings of Akindele sitting in Magistrates Court II, Wuse Zone 6 be suspended.

“An order of this honorable court, which by virtue of the granting of the previous orders in this document, serves as a suspension of all proceedings on the direct criminal complaint Omolola Tolulope Akindele sitting in Magistrates Court II, Wuse Zone 6 in the Kenechukwu Okeke Vs Deji Adeyanju and 49 others in suit no. CR / 49/2020," Judge Kawu said.

He ordered that the Nigerian Police force should not arrest or take any unconstitutional steps in any form as regards the case.

“An order from this honorable court, that by virtue of the granting of the foregoing orders hereby, the same order granted by the honorable court will prevent the Nigerian Police Force, second and third defendants from taking further action, arresting or take any unconstitutional illegal steps in the form of any disguise as regards the matters at issue before this court in this document, as it concerns all parties in the process." He added.

Okeke had alleged that during the #EndSARS protests, his properties were destroyed and the defendants who promoted the #EndSARS protests must be brought to justice.
